This year’s Snowman Showdown is a partner event to the long-running Tier I Paul D. Merritt Holiday Classic (U14 - U18) and the Ocean State Presidential Classic, which takes place on Presidents Day weekend each year featuring U14 and U12 teams.  

Our goal with all our events is to make them “old school, fun, family” hockey events — think giveaways, contests, mascots, pizza parties, balloons, awards, and more. There will also be Eastern Hockey League (U20 Junior) action with HC Rhode Island taking on Seacoast (NH) — all tournament teams are invited to attend the Saturday afternoon game free of charge and take part in the fun festivities planned. There will also be high school hockey at Thayer/Warburton Arena for players and teams to see.  

Rhode Island is called the Ocean State for a reason, and we hope you make it a family weekend of fun and cool experiences, wrapped around some great hockey!

We are a “stay and play” event and have a top-end lodging partner in Jim McGuire and his staff at Blue Blazer Events Group. All visiting teams must go through Jim for their hotel needs.

All of our events are also USA Hockey sanctioned, zero-tolerance events and we strive to make this a wholesome weekend of fun, friends, and good hockey!
